Amber Alert!

Image
The above picture was taken at White Sands National Park in New Mexico, it is simply there for attention! Anyway, in my previous post I talked about Amber. Since writing that, I have learned that Amber pulled through! PTL! I eventually spoke with the Ranger who worked with us that day, and she said that that's all she knows about Amber . . . that she lived. Finding purpose in God's plan can be tricky waters to navigate and, at times, completely confusing. I don't know what's next for us, much less for Amber, but I do know that God will show up at the most opportune time. There have been many instances throughout my life where there was no doubt that there was a distinct purpose to be at a certain place at a certain time. Amber was one of them. We are so thrilled about Amber's good news! However, confusion abounds at times and I am still unaware of the immediate future for us. At one point in our cross-country journey I stopped looking for work in order to focus on...

Texas Tragedy

The last post I made was while we were in Texas back in mid-February. I haven't written since then because we had an experience like no other and it has been difficult to get back into the groove of writing. Today I am writing to share that experience with you. I realize there aren't many people who read these blogs (mostly family and close friends) but that's ok because I am doing this writing for documentation purposes as well so that Pam and I have something to look back on while we live this life we have dreamed of living. Living! That is the purpose for today's blog. It was a crisp February afternoon in Southern Texas on this day. Pam and I bundled up to take the dogs for a walk through Lake Brownwood State Park. It was sunny, but cold. We left the warmth and comfort of our home and decided to walk towards the lake, about a ten-minute walk from our trailer, and see what it had to offer by way of scenery. So we leashed the dogs and headed out. At the lake there is ...

Well, we made it to Texas . . . but the journey was anything but easy or relaxing. After spending a week in Louisiana, we headed out and set our sites on the great state of Texas. Albeit, they are quite possibly about to embark on civil war with the Biden Administration, but the way we see it . . . what could possibly go wrong? In any case, let me tell you how we got here. I have to say, Louisiana was not my favorite state, so leaving it was not disappointing. We were happy to move on. In preparation for future travels I invested in an app that is popular among RVers. Its sole purpose is to plan trips and what stops along the way we will be making (i.e. fuel, overnights, Harvest Host locations, etc.). The app makes trip-planning tolerable. It can be an exhausting task at times. However, the GPS that comes with the app is debatable as to its efficacy in getting us from A to B. Have you ever seen the movie Vacation with Chevy Chase? It seems like what can go wrong will go wrong. Ou...

The End of Florida

Image
On our way out of Florida Pam and I stayed at a beautiful resort on a bay in the Gulf. This was our setup and the scenery didn't disappoint. We were a mere 30 feet from the water during high-tide. We stayed there for a week with our good friends Mark and Kim. Mark is a pilot for Southwest Airlines (don't ask him about their customer service, he gets very angry!), and Kim is a homemaker. She stays plenty busy with their grandson while Mark is flying. We have known them for more than ten years and we absolutely cherish our time together with them, so spending a week in the Panhandle with them went way too fast. Mark and Kim have had a pretty rough go the last five years. They lost their son, Matthew, unexpectedly at the age of sixteen. They have not been the same since and will forever be changed. Matthew was a loving, goofy, kind-hearted, and giving boy. He was well-beyond his years in the way he carried himself and the way he treated others. He loved superhero movies and woul...

Merry (belated) Christmas!

Image
Merry Christmas errbody! I knew it had been a while since I blogged, but jeepers creepers! I haven't written since Thanksgiving! It was a nice break and we were very busy during our time in Florida. Just a few mentionable moments and then I will get to my agenda for this post. For those of you who may not know, the above picture is with my son Justin, mother-in-law Judy, and Pam (from left to right). This picture was taken during the Christmas service at Judy's church in The Villages Florida. Note how I really dressed up my feet for the occasion! We spent a lot of time visiting with friends as well. A couple of my good friends decided it would be funny if they got the shirts pictured below. The shirts are from an existential college somewhere. I am not sure where, but Scott (left) saw a commercial or some kind of advertisement for it and decided he and Mark (right) should buy one and wear them to dinner one night. I also received one of my very own from them. Oh the memories ...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Image
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and have a lot to be thankful for. I haven't written since we got to Florida. We have stayed in the same spot since we got here a month ago and there hasn't been much to write about. We have had visits from Justin and Jessie a few times, and we have gone inland to visit some friends and stay for Thanksgiving at Judy's (Pam's mom). Other than that, it has pretty much been taking care of the trailer, truck, and motorcycle. What do you mean "take care" of them? Glad you asked. After just two weeks on the beach everything metal began to rust. One would think that we were staying at the Dead Sea shoreline with the salt-concentration. Pam and I spent about an hour-and-a-half cleaning the rust off with CLR. Thankfully it worked with a little elbow grease. Eventually, I took the motorcycle to Judy's house where it now stays in the garage until we move in a few days. We have been on the beach for almost about five weeks and...

Florida!

Image
Well we made it to Florida without any issues. Pam took the above picture one morning before she started work. I, on the other hand, need to get as much beauty sleep as possible (if you've seen my face, then you know how true that statement is!).  Since arriving in Florida we have seen our son, Justin, a few times. Him and his girlfriend Jessie stayed with us over the weekend most recently. They arrived on Sunday so, of course, we watched football all day. I think watching twelve hours of football in one sitting was Jessie's favorite ! We even had a fire outside and watched football on the exterior TV and ate smores! We loved having them over, and Jessie is quickly becoming a fan of the blog. I believe she has read every one because anytime I reference something I have written she knows what I am talking about. Justin? Well, I am not sure he has even looked at this blog. He is my own flesh and blood and, seemingly, couldn't be less interested. After all, it's not cool...
