Well, we made it to Texas . . . but the journey was anything but easy or relaxing. After spending a week in Louisiana, we headed out and set our sites on the great state of Texas. Albeit, they are quite possibly about to embark on civil war with the Biden Administration, but the way we see it . . . what could possibly go wrong? In any case, let me tell you how we got here. I have to say, Louisiana was not my favorite state, so leaving it was not disappointing. We were happy to move on. In preparation for future travels I invested in an app that is popular among RVers. Its sole purpose is to plan trips and what stops along the way we will be making (i.e. fuel, overnights, Harvest Host locations, etc.). The app makes trip-planning tolerable. It can be an exhausting task at times. However, the GPS that comes with the app is debatable as to its efficacy in getting us from A to B. Have you ever seen the movie Vacation with Chevy Chase? It seems like what can go wrong will go wrong. Ou...

The End of Florida

On our way out of Florida Pam and I stayed at a beautiful resort on a bay in the Gulf. This was our setup and the scenery didn't disappoint. We were a mere 30 feet from the water during high-tide. We stayed there for a week with our good friends Mark and Kim. Mark is a pilot for Southwest Airlines (don't ask him about their customer service, he gets very angry!), and Kim is a homemaker. Mark and Kim have had a pretty rough go the last five years. They lost their son, Matthew, unexpectedly at the age of sixteen. They have not been the same since and will forever be changed. Matthew was a loving, goofy, kind-hearted, and giving boy. He was well-beyond his years in the way he carried himself and the way he treated others. He loved superhero movies and woul...

Merry (belated) Christmas!

Merry Christmas errbody! I knew it had been a while since I blogged, but jeepers creepers! I haven't written since Thanksgiving! It was a nice break and we were very busy during our time in Florida. Just a few mentionable moments and then I will get to my agenda for this post. For those of you who may not know, the above picture is with my son Justin, mother-in-law Judy, and Pam (from left to right). This picture was taken during the Christmas service at Judy's church in The Villages Florida. Note how I really dressed up my feet for the occasion! We spent a lot of time visiting with friends as well. A couple of my good friends decided it would be funny if they got the shirts pictured below. The shirts are from an existential college somewhere. I am not sure where, but Scott (left) saw a commercial or some kind of advertisement for it and decided he and Mark (right) should buy one and wear them to dinner one night. I also received one of my very own from them. Oh the memories ...
